Three sides earned the last places in the regional finals of the inaugural 2022 British Clubs Mixed Team Championships with impressive victories this weekend.
Shropshire’s Hill Valley GC lost their first two rubbers in extra holes against Leicestershire’s Beedles Lake GC – before staging a great comeback to nick the last 16 tie 3-2.
More emphatically, Bedfordshire GC whitewashed Cambridgeshire’s Girton GC 5-0 to win their south east region tie in style.
Joining them in the last eight will be Northumberland’s Stocksfield GC who ended Muthill GC’s impressive campaign.
Stocksfield made the long bank holiday journey to Perthshire – but the trip proved worthwhile after they won the first three matches to ensure victory without the need to finish the last two rubbers/
Stocksfield will now host Lancashire’s Fleetwood GC in the quarter finals, to be played by the end of September.
The northern regional final is one of four taking place across Britain – with the four winners qualifying for the national finals at Boavista Golf Resort in Portugal’s Western Algarve from November 7-10.
In the south west, Hampshire’s Stoneham GC will host Wales’ Mond Valley GC while Bedfordshire GC will entertain Enfield GC in the south east.
And in the Midlands final, Lincolnshire’s Belton Woods GC will play Shropshire’s Hill Valley GC.
