Flying the flag for Scotland

A Dundee team are flying the flag for Scotland after sweeping into the last 16 of the 2025  British Clubs Mixed Championships.

But Downfield GC will have to do things the hard way if they want to go all the way in the competition and emulate the performance of 2024 Perthshire finalists Muthill GC.

After a terrific 3-2 away triumph over City of Newcastle GC in the third round, Downfield face another cross-border trip in round four.

They will travel to west Yorkshire after Ryburn GC got the better of 2023 finalists Scarborough South Cliff GC – edging a fantastic game 3-2 away.

Elsewhere, Haydock Park GC overcame Oldham GC 4-1 and will now travel to Easton (Chester) GC, who enjoyed a terrific 3-2 away victory over Llandudno (Maesdu) GC.

In the south east, Goodwood GC continued their fine run with a narrow 3-2 victory over Royal Eastbourne.

They will now visit Enfield GC after the Middlesex completed their second away win of the season, this time 3-2 against Windlesham GC B.

While home teams have a distinct advantage most of the team, round three upset the odds with half the games being won by the away side.

In one of the most impressive performances of the competition so far, Windlesham GC A beat Camberley Heath 5-0 away from home.

But they face another tough away tie in the last 16 after Essex’ Abridge GC also enjoyed a victory on the road – 4-1 against Stowmarket GC.

In the Midlands, 2023 champions Brickenden Grange GC saw their hopes of further success ended at the hands of Brampton Park GC 4.5-1.5.

Brampton Park will now visit Ingestre Park GC after the Staffordshire side beat Moor Park GC away 3-2.

Nottinghamshire’s Wollaton Park GC edged Leicestershire’s Beedles Lake GC 3-2 to secure a home tie against Norfolk’s Barnham Broom GC, who beat Lincolnshire’s Belton Woods GC 4.5-0.5.

Finally in the south west, Southampton’s Boundary Lakes GC pipped Barton on Sea A 3-2 and will now travel to Barton on Sea B, who saw off Sunningdale Heath GC 5-0.

Herefordshire GC enjoyed an impressive away win against Royal Ascot GC 3.5-1.5 and will now host 2024 champions Worlebury GC, who edged Exeter GC 3-2.
