Better late than never

There’s less than a week to go before entries close for the 2025 British Clubs Mixed Championships – but teams are still signing up.

Debutants Oldham GC are the latest to come to the party for this the fourth year of the competition and join other Lancashire entries that include Burnley GC, Rochdale GC, Pleasington GC and Nelson GC.

“Why have we not heard about these championships before,” is a comment we often hear, with clubs keen to sign once they learn about the competition.

And, despite our best marketing efforts, getting the word out to competition secretaries and mixed golf organisers is not easy which is why we often rely on the goodwill of competing clubs to spread the word.

Goodwood GC is another late entry with eight clubs from Sussex now taking part. It means numbers have doubled every year on the south coast county with just one in 2022, two in 2023, four in 2025 and now eight. Long may the trend continue.

The draw will be made once entries close this week and sent out out to all competing clubs on Monday March 31.
