Build it and they will come

Word of mouth is proving to be the biggest driver in the continued success of the British Clubs Mixed Championships.

As the 2024 event again sees a record number of entries, sides continue to embrace the exciting competition which is now in its third year.

As players spread the word about the national knockout competition, more and more teams are signing up in counties all over the country.

From just three entries each in the inaugural 2022 season, Surrey now boasts twelve sides while Hampshire will see ten teams taking part.

It’s a similar story in the north where Yorkshire has nine sides, Lancashire has six and Northumberland six, up from just two in the first year.

And while some counties were slow in the uptake, many with just one team in 2022, they are slowly building up numbers with the likes of Bedford, Berkshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Sussex all seeing at least four sides preparing to do battle to date.

The good news too is that the closing date for entries has been extended until March 31 at the bequest of clubs who have asked for more time to get teams together.

The competition kicks off in April with the four regional winners earning their place at the finals at the fantastic Celtic Manor Golf Resort in south Wales in late September.

All teams will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of 2022 winners Stoneham GC, from Hampshire, and 2023 champions Brickendon Grange GC, from Hertfordshire.
